Monday Minimalist Tip

When I first got intrigued with minimalism two years ago, my daughter sent me a photo asking if “this” was my goal. It was a white room, with a solo red hard back chair. What many see is minimalism is about “giving things up.” It’s about letting go of those things you aren’t using, that are duplicates, that never get worn or see the light of day.

So my tip for today is…

Remember minimalism is about what you keep in your life. It is about savoring the things, events, people, and activities that bring you joy. In many ways, it really is an INTENTIONAL LIFE, versus automatically following cultural norms  for what you consume, how you live and what you allow in your life. It’s by carving away what doesn’t add joy that we get there sometimes.

  • Be sure to include the people you love, who you want to spend time with.
  • Keep those things that bring you joy, that get used often, and serve a purpose in your life.
  • Balance your day to include activities that support your health, your finances, and that feed your spirit.

It’s as much. or more, about what you choose to include! What are things you’d like more of in your life to add joy and balance? What are your red chairs?

One of my red chairs is my laptop. I use it each day for so many tasks from balancing finances to writing my blog.
