Raw Cleansing – Welcome to Phase Two!

This morning I am sipping on  my hot lemon water with a couple of light shakes of cayenne thrown in.  It’s a cool gray morning, but it’s a great morning because today we get to add in smoothies, salads and whole fruits and vegetables to the cleanse!  Doing this sequence of juice, then gradually adding in more complex foods allows the body to go into a deeper detoxification process than if you kept the nuts, seeds, oils and more complex foods in from the beginning.IMG_4403

I am going to share my favorite smoothie recipe today.  Smoothies give your body fiber and allow you to add in superfoods too if you like.  There are tons of recipes on the internet and in books to keep you going for days, months and yes, even years of smoothies.  My favorite is a blueberry and kale smoothie.

Combine all ingredients into a high-speed blender.  Blend until smooth using the tamper if it has one.  Serve and enjoy!

You can easily substitute your favorite berry or fruit or use water as the base versus juice.  If you don’t have kale, use spinach or chard.  There is lots of wiggle room in smoothie recipes, so try flavors you like and enjoy!

You likely will want to continue having a juice each day too to keep that super nutrition going, but now you can grab a piece of fruit to take on the run which has an added convenience.  Tomorrow we will explore some of my favorite salads!
